With a travel time of 2 hours and situated at an average altitude of about 50 m above sea level, the tour winds through plains and gentle climbs and descents for an additional 30 m change in elevation, with a technical difficulty level of 5. The route is 100% dirt track, featuring gravel and grass, and crosses beautiful vineyards, arable land, and woodlands. The panoramic view embraces the entire area of the Eastern Hills and the Collio region bordering the trail, as well as the Carnic Alps mountain range.
Immersed in a landscape where nature is the absolute protagonist—among cypress avenues, rolling hills, and centuries-old beech and fir trees, where animals such as roe deer, hares, and pheasants have found their ideal environment for centuries—GIRANGORIS stretches for 13.5 km entirely within the Tenuta di Angoris, an eco-sustainable estate. The route then connects to other itineraries that allow you to reach the municipality of Cormòns, specifically the small church of San Quirino and the hill of Medea with its Ara Pacis.
The starting point is the park gate of Villa Locatelli, and the trail continues through the hunting and wildlife reserve amidst rolling hills, woods, expanses of hazelnut trees, olive groves, and vineyards of Friulano, Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. The fascinating history of the area and its characteristics are expertly told on dedicated signage placed along the path.
GIRANGORIS also features a successful food and wine offering: along the way, the welcoming restaurant “Al Podere” offers Angoris wines paired with classic dishes of regional and Italian cuisine. Alternatively, at the end of the trail, a wine tasting of the Estate’s wines is available inside a charming, renovated 150-hectoliter barrel with a view of the historic Villa Locatelli, providing an unforgettable gustatory and sensory experience.
