The geological origin of the Quadris Oasis is due to the morphogenetic action of the Tagliamento glacier which deposited its debris and dug pits and troughs.
The Quadris area is one of these depressions filled by the melting waters of the glacier and then by the meteoric ones. The current appearance consists of about thirty ponds surrounded by dense vegetation, with a regular shape (squares), obtained from the excavation of peat, which took place for about two centuries until the mid-twentieth century.
A part of this area, called the Oasis of the Quadris, is now home to the projects for the reintroduction of the white stork and for the protection of the hermit ibis.
